We are pleased to welcome students into our Church family and invite you to become part of our 18-30+’s group ‘Connect'. Connect organises cell groups for young adults and also Connect-wide events which are open to the whole church and cover the areas of Worship, Outreach, Relationships, Discipleship and Service.

While many students are actively involved in C.U. hall and cell groups, some students mention that they are interested in joining a weekly Connect cell for prayer and bible study and to get to know some non-students. These groups meet on a Wednesday or Thursday at homes throughout Reading. We will try to match you up to a group which can provide lifts.

If you think you might be interested in joining one of these cells, please contact Mark and Linda Hirons or Pads Dolphin to chat through the details.

Adopt-a-student

We are starting a new scheme this year: adopt-a-student. We want to offer the chance for students to link up with a family (or individual) in Greyfriars. They will invite you for meals, help you get to know the local area and offer you practical support. If you are interested then get in contact with one of the student team.

Email list

If you want to be on an email list to be reminded of Greyfriars events relevant to students and other connectors then please visit the Mailing List page.

Travel to Greyfriars

Greyfriars Church is located at the west end of Friar St., in the centre of Reading (near Primark and Sainsburys!).

Buses

The bus routes and times are constantly changing so it's not sensible to provide times on the website.  There is a good service between town and the University so please check on the Reading Buses website http://www.readingtransport.co.uk/rdg.htm.

If any student is ever on their own, and worried about getting back after church, contact one of the Greyfriars Clergy, or student team, and we will guarantee that we will find someone to give you a lift.

Getting involved at Greyfriars

There are many opportunities to get involved, and to serve the Lord in the Greyfriars church family. Helpers are always needed for Sunday schools, ‘Cross-roads’ the youth group, various music groups and Alpha among many others! Serving the Lord within the church is the best way of becoming part of the community and getting to know people so please talk to one of the student team or clergy if you are interested.
