Our main activities take place in cell groups.  These are weekly meetings of up to about ten people, in homes around Reading.  They take place on either Wednesdays or Thursdays.  The format and content varies from group to group, but all are based around the principles of four “W”s – Welcome, Worship, Word and Witness.  We aim to deepen relationships by maintaining a welcoming atmosphere and activities / socials which allow this.  Each meeting focuses on God as the centre of all that goes on (worship).  We study the Bible (word) and seek to apply it to our lives, helping each other to act on what we read (witness).  A list is available of some of the cell group resources which have been used recently by our groups.

We currently have 11 cell groups.  Their leaders are named below.  You can also see more on how Connect is structured.

Wednesday:
Nick and Hannah Jones
Charlotte Barker
Nick and Liz English
David Spence and Catherine Land
Adam Dimmick and Nick Lam

Thursday:
Andy and Emma Noonan
Richard Mallett and Emma Sanderson
Jethro Seaton and Sarah Pedlow
Mark and Linda Hirons
David and Joanne Wiles

If you are interested in joining a cell group, email Pads Dolphin at Greyfriars or phone him on 0118 951 6705 with your name and contact details.

Every seven weeks or so, cell groups all meet together and invite other members of Greyfriars to join them for a central “Connect” event.  These are usually held in the church, and take as their theme one of the “WORDS” principles – Worship, Outreach, Relationship, Discipleship and Service.  Check the Events page for the next Connect event.

These events allow friendships beyond the cell group, and also allow us to put on activities which would not be achievable at small group level, such as inviting speakers, hosting band-led worship, and other ways of expressing the diversity of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12 , Ephesians 4)
